Dreams are the guiding words of the soul.
Carl Jung
A few months ago I had a vivid dream in the early night, where my daughter and I were sitting in a classroom together at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. A friend and colleague who is a professor there was teaching the class and it was our first day. Why my daughter was with me, I’m not sure (did I mention it was a dream?). But I so enjoyed the experience of being in that room together, and taking part in the learning experience, that the following morning I felt compelled to send a text message to my professor friend, letting her know about my dream.
She replied that it was wild I had that dream. It turns out she actually was up late in night from 2am to 7am, in “mega prep mode” for the first day of the semester. And she concluded “Maybe I’ll get to teach your children someday 😊” That too made me smile, but it also made me wonder.
I used to think dreams were just our brains’ way of cleaning the clutter, preparing our minds for what’s to come. But these days, I’m not so sure. Maybe when we dream, we’re not actually alone. Maybe we visit worlds together, accessing our shared consciousness in a spiritual realm. Our souls connecting in the ethereal — on the other side, revelation. Eyes closed, but more awake than ever.
